Plan your day trip to Fantasy Island
Fantasy Island is known as having one of the best funfairs in England. But if you are looking for things to do in Skegness away from the thrill of the rides, it’s also a great destination for a day of shopping, food and fun.
We’ve put together a plan for the perfect day out in Lincolnshire that includes something for mum, dad and children. Our award-winning resort is easy to get to, being just over an hour’s drive from Lincoln and Grimsby and 90 minutes from Scunthorpe. Skegness train station is served by an hourly service from Nottingham (every two hours on Sundays) and is less than four miles from the park. During the season, bus number 1 from Skegness stops right outside the resort, while the stop for the number 3 is a short walk away.
Morning
Start your day out Fantasy Island with some breakfast at the Arcade Bar & Café. Fuel yourself for the fun ahead with a traditional English breakfast of bacon, butcher’s pork sausages, eggs, black pudding, hash brown, mushrooms and beans. Then head off for stage one of your day’s shopping.
We are home to Europe’s largest seven-day market, with 320 shops selling everything from clothes and toys to electrical equipment. With so much to choose from, use the morning just browsing and planning what you will buy later. After some cappuccinos at the House of Coffee, it’s fun time for the kids. Lava Creek Adventure Golf provides some healthy competition for the family in a fantasy setting while you build up an appetite for lunch.
Afternoon
When you’re by the sea, you have to choose an English classic for lunch, so visit Mrs M’s Traditional Fish and Chips, which uses only local family-run suppliers, including potatoes from Lincolnshire farms. Then it’s time to head back to the market and buy everything you selected in the morning’s window-shopping session (and maybe a few extras too).
After shopping, you could spend the afternoon cycling around the park together while exploring Fantasy Island and enjoying the sea air (bikes are available for hire). Finish off the day with drinks in the Explorer’s Bar & Coffee House. A refreshing pint and a luxurious coffee (for the driver) is the perfect way to round off a wonderful day.
