How Fantasy Island Became Legendary
Fantasy Island started as just a regular holiday park. However, over the years, it’s morphed into a totally different animal. What was once just a place to spend the afternoon with the kids transformed into a cultural phenomenon, not only famous in Lincolnshire but the rest of the country too.
Skegness has long been a well-known seaside destination. It’s famous for its kids’ attractions, crazy golf courses, and, of course, the beachfront.
However, the town didn’t quite know what it could become until the arrival of Fantasy Island. The park gave both locals and tourists the notion that Skegness wasn’t just a place to grab fish and chips, but a place to have an adventure of a lifetime.
It’s all about the atmosphere
While Fantasy Island’s rides and events are spectacular, what people really love about the destination is its atmosphere. The park offers something that visitors simply can’t get elsewhere: a traditional laid-back British seaside experience blended with high-quality thrill rides. Everything about Fantasy Island is geared towards having fun. There’s just so much to see and do.
The park got its start all the way back in 1995, following three years of building work. In 2016, it received a full upgrade, adding mini-golf and bowling alleys. New rides were added later, encouraging people to travel from further afield.
At the park, though, we like to do things differently. While we have our fair share of thrill rides, we also focus on entertainment. Guests can take part in beach parties, watch incredible firework displays, and enjoy meet and greet celebrations with kids’ favourite fictional characters.
It’s more than just a theme park
Fantasy Island offers fun for all the family, but it’s not just a regular theme park in Skegness. Sure, it has plenty of rollercoasters that snake their way through the park, but the experience gets better with every visit. For instance, once you’ve been on the rides, you can visit Europe’s largest seven-day market, with more than 320 stores. There’s everything you could ever possibly want here, from plush toys to outdoor clothing.
Food and drink are also a big part of the experience. You can visit bars and coffee shops and grab an ice cream when temperatures soar in the summer.
Entire holiday packages are available too, so you don’t have to limit yourself to a day trip. By staying at the adjoining caravan park, you can turn your Fantasy Island adventure into a week-long trip, letting you fully explore everything the park has to offer.
The bottom line
The basic message is this: Fantasy Island offers a different experience from what you’re used to. Rides are a big attraction, but that’s only a small part of the story. To really get to know how we operate, you need to come and experience it for yourself! You’ll be amazed by how different it feels.
